NFL AFC Champion Prediction
NFL betting enthusiasts hoping that the 2011 – 12 seasons are played come September, have received great news, as the owners and players unions appear to be ready to sign a new collective bargaining agreement deal. With roughly three months left for sports betting enthusiasts to make their futures wagers, here is our prediction for which team will win the AFC Championship.
The AFC features two of the toughest divisions in all of sports, the AFC East and the AFC North. Over the last four years, the AFC Champion has come from one of those divisions three times, as the New England Patriots represented the AFC in 2008, and Pittsburgh Steelers were the AFC Champion in 2009 and 2011. For all intents and purposes, heading into the 2011 – 12 seasons, the AFC Champion will once again come from that division.
Heading into September, the New York Jets of the AFC East enter the campaign with a ton to prove. The Jets shocked the NFL during the 2009 – 10 seasons as they went from a team on a rebuild, to within a win of going to the Super Bowl. Then last season, the Jets once again came within a win of the Super Bowl as they lost to eventual runner up the Pittsburgh Steelers.
This offseason, the Jets need to resign the majority of their offense, as Brad Smith, Braylon Edwards and Santonio Holmes are all free agents. If all goes according to plan, the Jets should be able to resign at least two of the three aforementioned players. While Smith is a phenomenal kickoff return man, let’s hope the Jets sign both Edwards and Holmes.
The other big need for the Jets is a backup quarterback, who can step in if Mark Sanchez gets injured. New York is a team that hasn’t won a Super Bowl in nearly 40 years; however this year appears to be the year they do so.
